Smoke from Blender 2.5

Various High-Res baking settings with the original sim at the top left.

As you can see, no real difference in render times for the more complex. It took a few minutes to bake the lower settings up to about 20 minutes for the highest. The program crashed with anything over 6...don't know why because I've seen it with 8

Look forward to a tutorial really soon, I decided that the documentation on smoke is super sparse and there seem to be relatively few written tutorials (as opposed to video things)

geez it looks more powerful than max, toobad the interface is harder to use than a solar powered flashlight

yeah...the UI has gotten better recently. I've always liked it more than max/maya because I feel like it's cleaner. It's just a bitch to learn

That is probably just because I learned blender first so other things seem really alien to me
