Caladbolg 2 by pyrohmstr Caladbolg 2 by pyrohmstr
My final version of Caladbolg...I decided to remake it after someone showed some interest in the older version.

Modeled with blender and rendered with Maxwell 2

The blade is porcelain...because it doesn't look anything like metal in any of the pictures

Well, I don't have cardboard sword adventures anymore (I learned from my Buster sword. It was fine for a sword of that size and shape, but yeah) I'm more of a foam core, soft foam and wire person. It's not heavy like metal, wood or fiberglass, it's con-ready (it won't hurt anybody because it's too soft) and it's easily fixed if something breaks or scuffs off.

Make it out of a ceramic.

Oh dear, no, that would break too easily. I take stuff like that to conventions. Also, ceramic for such a large sword would be way too heavy for me.

I don't mean clay. I mean a technical ceramic like a carbide. It wasn't a serious suggestion. You should cast one out of magnesium...super light and strong

Cast magnesium? Oh my, how much would that cost? And where would I find that? (Keep in mind, it's hard to find supplies where I live, lol)

Again, not really a practical suggestion...but it would be hilarious

I suppose it would! Still, for cost, durability, and light weight, foam core and soft foam is about the best I can do. Usually it costs me next to nothing since I know a garbage man, and he sometimes finds foam core in the trash that's perfectly fine!

Or just make it out of steel. I know for a fact that you can forge a sword using things only found in the trash...I've watched it happen before

Yes, it was xD It looks pretty good to me, I think you did a good job on it. I remember I could never find a picture that was quite in a high enough resolution, lol.

:] I know there aren't a lot of high definition pictures of the sword online...I thought it might help in your card-board-sword adventures
